The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Institute for Development Programming as part of a broader initiative aimed at strengthening cooperation between academic institutions and public bodies involved in strategic development planning in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The signing took place in connection with the conference held on September 17, 2026, which officially marked the beginning of the preparation of the Development Strategy of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina until 2034.
IUS was represented by Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı and Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Research Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić.
In addition to IUS, memorandums were signed with the University of Sarajevo, University of Bihać, University of Zenica, University of Tuzla, Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar, and Sarajevo School of Science and Technology.
The cooperation is intended to create stronger links between the academic community and institutions responsible for development planning and public policy. It also opens opportunities for universities to contribute their research, professional expertise, and analytical capacities to the preparation and evaluation of policies, programs, projects, and public investments in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Through this partnership, academic knowledge and research can play a more active role in processes related to development planning, policy analysis, evaluation, and impact assessment. The initiative also supports a stronger evidence-based approach to public policy, with greater emphasis on the use of data, research, and expert knowledge in decision-making processes.
For the International University of Sarajevo, participation in this initiative represents another opportunity to contribute to issues of broader social and economic importance through its academic and research capacities. It also reflects IUS’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with public institutions and supporting initiatives that connect higher education, research, and the practical needs of society.
The Memorandum provides a framework for future cooperation and creates opportunities for IUS academics and researchers to contribute their expertise to activities related to the long-term development priorities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
By participating in the preparation of strategic development processes alongside other universities and relevant institutions, IUS continues to strengthen its role as an active academic partner in initiatives that contribute to the sustainable and knowledge-based development of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
