A high-level delegation from Istanbul Ticaret University visited the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) today, marking another important step in strengthening academic and institutional cooperation between the two universities.
The delegation was led by Dr. İsrafil Kuralay, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Istanbul Ticaret University, and Prof. Dr. Necip Şimşek, Rector of Istanbul Ticaret University, accompanied by prominent academics and university representatives.
During the visit, the delegation was welcomed at the IUS Rectorate, where they held a meeting with Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı, Rector of IUS. The discussions focused on expanding cooperation in the areas of academic mobility, research, joint projects, student and staff exchanges, and broader institutional collaboration.
A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between IUS and Istanbul Ticaret University by the two rectors, Prof. Dr. Necip Şimşek and Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı.
The agreement establishes a broad framework for inter-institutional cooperation aimed at promoting international understanding, scholarly collaboration, cultural interaction, and academic exchange between the two universities.
Under the Memorandum, the universities plan to cooperate through student, faculty and intern exchanges, joint postdoctoral and research activities, participation in seminars and academic meetings, short-term academic programs, and the exchange of academic materials and information.
The agreement also places particular emphasis on joint national and international project collaboration, including the preparation and implementation of research, innovation and educational projects under funding schemes such as Horizon Europe, Erasmus+ and Digital Europe.
Following the signing ceremony, the Istanbul Ticaret University delegation took part in an extensive tour of the IUS campus, visiting laboratories, studios and other academic and research facilities. The tour offered an opportunity to learn more about IUS infrastructure, teaching and research capacities, and the practical environments available to students and academic staff.
As part of the visit, the delegation also paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Hasan Topaloğlu, President of the SEDEF Foundation, further highlighting the broader institutional ties and commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two universities.
The visit and the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding represent an important foundation for deeper cooperation between IUS and Istanbul Ticaret University, opening new opportunities for students, academics and researchers.
