The International University of Sarajevo (IUS), established by the Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo (SEDEF), has been providing quality education for years in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During his interview for Anadolu Agency (AA), the Rector of the International University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yılıdırım talked about the work of this higher education institution where students from many countries gain their knowledge.
The International University of Sarajevo was founded in 2003 and started educating students in 2004. At the moment, 1,700 students from different countries attend IUS and its around 3,000 graduates work in good positions in different parts of the world.
- Academic staff from 12 countries -
“Currently, academic staff from 12 countries work at our university. We are the only international university in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The teaching process in our university is entirely conducted in English.”, said Yılıdırım.
There are 5 faculties, 17 undergraduate and 21 postgraduate and doctoral programs.
“Besides, our English Language School is internationally accredited and offers quality education. All foreign students who do not speak English, start their university education after they finish the English Language School”, said Yılıdırım.
- The best private university in Bosnia and Herzegovina -
He also highlighted that according to the Webometrics report, IUS has been the best private university in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the last three years.
“We continually climb up the ranking lists in the Balkans and the world as well. This is very important for us. This is a significant quality indicator”, added Yılıdırım.
The Rector reminded that IUS organizes Scholarship Testing for BiH students each year adding that almost all Bosnian students get scholarships.
“As an institution dedicated to its founding mission, we, as a University, were founded with a goal to provide quality education and a great number of scholarships”, he said.
Mr. Yılıdırım said that students acquire the right to a certain scholarship according to the results achieved in the test reminding that Scholarship testing will be held on March 26, 2022.
He also sent a message to international students from Turkey and other countries and their parents.
“IUS Campus is one of the largest private universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is one of the most suitable universities where you can study in an international environment and get an international degree. Also, Sarajevo is a very safe city”, said the IUS Rector.
- Students are happy with the conditions -
Ejub Bilajbegović, an IUS student, pointed out that he is very happy with the conditions at this university.
"I found out about IUS from friends while I lived and worked in Saudi Arabia. I got a scholarship on my first year. We have a lab equipped with the cutting-edge technology and we do high quality studies", said this student.
Ehlimana Alihodžić, a student of Turkish Language and Literature, said that her brother and sister also studied at IUS and she herself was drawn to the pleasant and friendly atmosphere at the University.
"I study here with 80 percent scholarship and I am very happy about it. Considering the possibilities offered by IUS, I believe that I got a very good scholarship", added this student.
The International University of Sarajevo is one of the largest education projects in the Balkans. As a relatively young academic institution, since the very beginning, IUS has been providing students with open, tolerant and international environment where young people can get new and exchange the knowledge they already have with other students and professors but with renown guest lecturers as well.
In recent years, this higher education institution has offered high quality education to local and foreign students at the three study cycles. The University has been developing intensively and it was among the first ones in BiH who adapted its education to the European standards.
During the undergraduate and postgraduate studies, students are provided with a quality intellectual environment in 21 study programs within five faculties, from Industrial Engineering and Computer Science, to Arts and Social Sciences, Teaching, Law, Business and Humanities.
As stated by the University, acquiring diploma as well as intellectual and creative thriving of young people who studied at IUS has enabled such talents easy access to the world of successful professionals, distinguished experts and responsible citizens of BiH society, as well as the countries they come from and returned to.
