IUS PSIR Students Visit the EU Delegation in BiH to Discuss European Integration

IUS PSIR Students Visit the EU Delegation in BiH

Students of the Political Science and International Relations (PSIR) study program at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) visited the Delegation of the European Union to Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday, October 29, 2026, as part of their IR215 – EU System course. The visit was also open to other IUS students and members of the IUS Global Affairs and Political Studies Club.

The students were accompanied by Asst. Prof. Dr. Hamza Preljević, PSIR Program Coordinator and lecturer for the IR215 – EU System course.

During the visit, Dženana Hodžić, Political Advisor at the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Asja Kratović, Program Outreach and Digital Media Officer, introduced students to the work and responsibilities of the EU Delegation and the Office of the EU Special Representative (EUSR).

Discussions focused on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European integration process, the progress achieved to date and the challenges that remain on the country’s path towards EU membership. Students also learned about the EU’s support for reforms, its cooperation with domestic institutions and the Delegation’s role in supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European future.

Particular attention was given to the relationship between young people and the European Union. Students had the opportunity to share their perceptions and expectations of the EU, discuss Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European future and consider the implications of integration for the country’s institutions and society.

By connecting classroom learning with the work of the EU Delegation and the EUSR, the visit offered students practical insights into the political and institutional dimensions of European integration. Direct dialogue with EU representatives also encouraged them to reflect on how the topics explored in their studies relate to developments shaping Bosnia and Herzegovina’s future.
