ELIT and ELT Programs Honor Mentors, Tutors and Teaching Practice Partners

On Friday, June 19, 2026, the English Language and Literature (ELIT) and English Language and Literature, Teaching (ELT) study programs at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) organized a certificate-award ceremony for English teachers, professors, school principals and coordinators who supported students during their Teaching Practice courses.

The ceremony gathered mentors and partners whose guidance, experience and dedication contributed significantly to the professional development of ELIT and ELT students. Staff members of the two programs welcomed the distinguished guests and expressed their sincere appreciation for the time, effort and inspiration they shared with students throughout the teaching practice process.

Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the Principal of the Third Gymnasium Sarajevo, Ms. Amra Čolić, as well as to English teachers and professors Sanja Salihović, Džejlana Gledo, Salema Drljević-Çiftçibaşı, Esma Adilović-Halilović, Ajla Pervan, Sibela Beširević, Edvin Kriještarac, Sanela Mihalić and Elvedina Omeragić. A certificate of appreciation was also awarded to ELS Coordinator Nermina Šegalo.

In addition, certificates of appreciation were presented to ELIT and ELT students who tutored freshman students as part of their Teaching Practice courses. Through these tutorials, the students supported IUS freshmen in improving their English language proficiency while also strengthening their own teaching skills, responsibility and confidence.

Certificates of appreciation were awarded to the following student tutors: Safa Afşar, Melisa Burç Abiş, Muzaffer Özdemir, Ajla Topić, Fatma Birkan, Reyhan Bayrak, Lejla Vatrić, Fatma Aysalar and Bakir Abaspahić.

The ceremony highlighted the importance of mentorship, practical teaching experience and cooperation between IUS and educational institutions. Through the dedication of mentors, coordinators and student tutors, the ELIT and ELT programs continue to strengthen the connection between academic learning and real classroom experience.
