A Student Group From Austria Visited IUS

A group of students from the Institute of Social Work at the University of Applied Sciences JOANNEUM in Graz, Austria visited IUS on May7th , 2013. The group headed by Ms. Monika Altenreiter who is a lecturer and international relations officer at the same institute was on an excursion in Sarajevo where they visited social organizations and tried to learn more about Bosnian welfare system. The students were curious to know about education at IUS, especially in social sciences and social work. In fact, another group from the same university visited IUS in 2008 when they were given a presentation by a professor of social work.

On behalf of the Social and Political Sciences (SPS) Program, Dr. Ali Çaksu organized a short program for the group. The program started with a short video presentation about IUS. Then Dr. Dževada Šuško from International Relations Program talked about the history of Bosnian – Austria-Hungarian relations. Her presentation was followed by a question and answer session. The visit ended with tea and coffee at the cafeteria where students and colleagues had a further chance to get to know about each other and discuss certain issues. The program in which many IUS students participated provided them an opportunity to meet and establish contacts with students and lecturers from Austria.
