IUS Rector Meets with Minister of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska

On February 4, 2022, a Turkish delegation led by the Consul General of Republic of Turkey Mr. Oğuz Kılıç met with the Minister of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska Ms. Natalija Trivić. The other members of the delegation who attended the meeting were the IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, Mr. Faruk Berat Akçeşme, the Attaché of Education at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey, Mr. Mehmet Akif Yaman, the Director of Yunus Emre Institute in BiH and Mr. Emin Mahmutović, the Secretary of the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Banja Luka.

The focus of the meeting was future cooperation in education and culture sectors. All the attendees are aware of the importance of having quality and strong educational institutions as well as fostering cultural backgrounds of different nations living in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Minister Trivić presented the ongoing reforms regarding education in Republika Srpska and expressed the willingness of the Ministry to strengthen cooperation between institutions from different countries. The Turkish delegation also conveyed their interest in building stronger ties with Republika Srpska and its educational and cultural institutions.

In addition, IUS Rector spoke to Minister Trivić regarding higher education in Republika Srpska and the entire BiH. He highlighted the importance of making quality higher education available to as many young people as possible and presented the scholarship program IUS offers to high school students in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Minister agreed that establishing cooperation between IUS and high schools in Republika Srpska is of great importance for young people in this entity of BiH.
