On Friday, July 10, 2026, Mr. Taha Zahid Özdemir, Secretary General of the Union of Municipalities of the Turkic World and an alumnus of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), paid a courtesy visit to IUS.
Mr. Özdemir was warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Muhammed Yasir Göz, IUS Vice-Rector for General Affairs, and Dr. Mehmet Akif Yaman, member of the IUS Board of Trustees.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the existing relations between the two institutions and exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation, future joint projects and opportunities for strengthening institutional collaboration. The visit provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on shared interests and explore ways in which academic, institutional and international cooperation can be further developed.
As an IUS alumnus, Mr. Özdemir’s visit also highlighted the importance of maintaining strong and meaningful connections with graduates who continue to contribute to institutions, communities and international networks beyond the university. IUS takes pride in the achievements of its alumni and values their role in building bridges between the university and wider professional, academic and institutional environments.
The meeting reaffirmed the importance of dialogue, partnership and long-term cooperation, particularly in areas that support international engagement, institutional development and the exchange of knowledge and experience.
IUS remains committed to strengthening its cooperation with partner institutions and alumni around the world, while continuing to create opportunities for collaboration that contribute to academic excellence, international visibility and broader societal development.
