17th B&H State Competition in informatics for high school students held at IUS

The Association "Informatics Olympiad in Bosnia and Herzegovina", organized this year's 17th B&H State Competition in informatics for high school students. The competition was held on Saturday, April 27th, 2013, in the premises of the International University of Sarajevo.

The contestants-students were eligible to participate in the state competition after they participated in school, municipal, cantonal and regional competitions. Among 55 registered competitors who were accompanied by 30 professors, come from all regions of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The best results were achieved by the following students:

First place: Rijad Muminović, Second Gymnasium, Sarajevo, Second place: Armin Ašimović, International School of Sarajevo, Third place: Amer Zavlan, International School of Sarajevo.

The best competitors have qualified for their successful participation at the International Olympiad in Informatics, as well as the Balkan Olympiad in Informatics. This competition has once again proved that talent and knowledge for computer science is nurtured and developed in all parts of B&H. The competition has also been an opportunity to socialize and share experiences, both for students and for their teachers. Association " Informatics Olympiad in Bosnia and Herzegovina," plans to continue with the activities of organizing winter and summer camps for young talents in computer science. The first two camps were organized at IUS premises in July 2012 and January 2013. These activities are helped mostly by students themselves and their schools, and the relevant ministries at different levels. The President of the Association "Informatics Olympiad in Bosnia and Herzegovina", Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haris Gavranović said that this is an ideal opportunity for companies involved in computer science and related fields to come forward and help develop the best young talent, and invest in their future and our future as well.

As a reward for their achievements in the competition held by the management of the International University of Sarajevo, scholarships to study at this University were awarded to best competitors (graduates).
