On Thursday, June 4, 2026, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) hosted a working meeting with directors of primary schools from Ilidža Municipality, opening an important dialogue on future cooperation in education, knowledge transfer, and student development.

Prof. Muhammed Yasir Göz, Vice-Rector for General Affairs, Senior Assistant Šejla Džakmić, Acting Manager of the IUS Research and Development Center (RDC), together with senior assistants Ammar Hodža and Muhamed Bisić.

The meeting focused on establishing cooperation between IUS and primary schools in the areas of staff exchange, student workshops, and knowledge transfer, with special emphasis on linking STE(A)M subjects with university courses, facilities, and practical learning opportunities. Through such collaboration, primary school students could benefit from the resources and expertise available at IUS, particularly through the RDC laboratories and the Matrakci workshop.

Particular attention was given to the study programs that can offer valuable educational experiences and inspire younger learners in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. These include Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Genetics and Bioengineering (GBE), Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Software Engineering (SE), and Media and Communications (MAC).

Through these programs, IUS is able to support and expand pupils’ knowledge in subjects such as Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, while also introducing them to practical, creative, and interdisciplinary approaches to learning.

The meeting reflected a shared interest in creating stronger links between primary education and higher education, with the aim of giving younger students early exposure to innovative learning environments and helping them discover new academic interests and opportunities.

By initiating this cooperation, IUS continues to strengthen its role as an institution committed not only to higher education, but also to supporting the broader educational community through partnership, innovation, and the promotion of hands-on learning.
