On 1 March , 2012, on the National day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Assist. Prof. Amila Smajovic, won the prize for her artwork at International Exhibition for Arts, Heritage and Creativity in Muscat, Sultanat of Oman, under the high patronage of Engineer Sultan bin Hamdoon Harthy, Head of Muscat Municipality and Research Center for History, Art and Islamic Culture in Istanbul (IRCICA).Her tapestry will be permanently exhibited in Museum Bait al Baranda, in Muscat, Sultanat of Oman.
Assist. Prof. Amila Smajovic didn't participate in the ceremony of awarding the prizes, but during her stay in Muscat, from 3 February, to February 23, 2012, she gave interviews for many Oman TV stations, and for many media.
Assist. Prof. Amila Smajovic also met with HE Dr. Khalid Arne Managing Director of the Research Center for History, Art and Islamic Culture in Istanbul (IRCICA) and Dr.Nezih Maruf, Head, Crafts Development Program, IRCICA, Istanbul ,president of the Jury Committee. She took opportunity to promote my country and the International University of Sarajevo.
The exhibition involved over 150 artists from 25 countries such as: The hosting country Sultanate of Oman, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, South Africa, Turkey, Mauritania, Lebanon, Tunisia, Algeria, Egypt, Pakistan, Iran, Palestine, Morocco, Syria, Uzbekistan, Russia, Senegal, Libya, Spain, Qatar and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and so on.
The aim of this International exhibition is to bring together artists who use elements of cultural heritage, cultural diversity and to show the new creativity. The activities of artists include live demonstrations of the creative process, as well as other various activities and the exhibition of works of art.
The exhibition was opened on 8 February by Sultan bin Hamdoon Harthy, Head of Muscat Municipality, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of Muscat Festival 2012 and HE Dr. Khalid Arne Managing Director of the Research Center for History, Art and Islamic Culture in Istanbul (IRCICA).
Assist. Prof. Amila Smajovic thanked IUS for giving her support to participate in this significant international exhibition.
