On Friday, 5th of December 2014, prof. Anela Hasanagić visited psychological laboratory in Zagreb. This visit was a part of project of establishing IUS psychological laboratory. Psychological laboratory in Zagreb on Psychology Department of Philosophical Faculty, is the first laboratory on Balkan, founded by Ramiro Bujas, and he is one of the best laboratories in southern Europe. Goals of visiting laboratory in Zagreb were:
- To provide information about how laboratory needs to look like, in term of room, some special features, like sound and light isolation etc.
- To provide information about what equipment is most needed for the purpose of education (Experimental, Cognitive, Biological, Educational, Developmental, Organizational and Social Psychology)
- To get insight how this equipment can be used in advanced researches.
- To agree possible common research projects of IUS students and students of psychology in Zagreb as well as the common projects of professors.
According to this issue, prof. Anela Hasanagić, who is leading this project of establishing psychological laboratory on IUS, made a contact with Prof. Dragutin Ivanec, professor responsible for psychological laboratory in Zagreb. During the visit, Prof. Hasanagić was able to see laboratory rooms that PSY department in Zagreb uses for the purpose of research. Right now, Prof. Ivanec is interested in the field of psychology of pain, and laboratory is settled for this purpose. But also, they have a lot of other instruments for measuring in the field of perception, physiological psychology, and cognitive psychology. Also there is a part of laboratory, which is computer laboratory, in which they have 10 computers with E-prime installed, and SPSS as well, so that students can develop programs for different researches and to develop their graduate and master thesis.
This visit was very helpful for psychology staff, in order of making our IUS PSY laboratory as useful as possible for our students but also for assistants and professors on PSY department. Similar things, but more modern, we are planning to make at our University. Our laboratory is going to be equipped with computer part (computer lab boxes) in which students and professors will be able to develop programs for different research designs, and also we will make “silent room” for different experiments in domain of cognitive and experimental psychology. In IUS laboratory also we will have psychological instruments that will be used for educational, and for research purposes as well.
