On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, a delegation from the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) paid an official visit to the newly appointed Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Canton Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Dušanka Bošković.
The IUS delegation was led by Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı, accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić, Vice Rector for International Cooperation and Research, and Mr. Jahja Imamović, Deputy Secretary General.
During the cordial meeting, the IUS representatives extended their sincere congratulations and best wishes to Minister Bošković on her appointment. The Rector expressed his hope for continued and enhanced cooperation between the Ministry and IUS, emphasizing the University’s commitment to supporting the development of higher education, science, and youth initiatives in Canton Sarajevo.
During the meeting, Rector Kuşakcı introduced the Minister to the University’s future development plans, good practices maintained by IUS, as well as the key challenges faced by higher education and science in general.
Special attention was devoted to the topic of national accreditation processes for study programs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the challenges of obtaining international accreditations from prestigious global agencies.
Minister Bošković, on her part, informed the delegation about the Ministry’s upcoming activities aimed at removing procedural barriers to initiating accreditation processes for study programs, the development of a new Science Strategy and related legislation in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as the further improvement of research funding mechanisms.
It was jointly concluded that innovative approaches and high educational standards play a key role in strengthening public awareness of the importance of education and its contribution to overall social development.
The Ministry representatives expressed their appreciation to the IUS leadership for the visit and reaffirmed their readiness for future cooperation aimed at improving the quality of education in Canton Sarajevo.
The visit took place in a constructive and positive atmosphere, with both sides expressing mutual readiness for continued collaboration and joint efforts in advancing higher education and scientific research.
