Students and staff of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) had one more opportunity for achieving a rich international experience through Erasmus+ exchange program. Apart of exchange of knowledge, skills and experiences, Erasmus+ program was also created to promote cultural exchanges at an international level. The program is primarily focused on solidarity and understanding between the cultures, but also at strengthening the potential of young people in order to participate in civil society and improving their leadership skills.
In 2015, IUS signed, or is currently in the process of signing inter-institutional Erasmus+ agreements with 35 universities from France, Germany, Turkey, Portugal, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Poland. Students had the opportunity to study in those countries in the period of one semester. Academic and administrative staff had many opportunities for exchange or professional development, for at least 5 days.
Through 7 Erasmus+ grants which IUS received in the academic year of 2015/16, the University has acquired the right to 67.000 EUR (52.000 EUR for students and 15.000 EUR for staff). These funds include all student scholarships as well as daily alowances for academic and administrative staff of the IUS. The average student scholarship was 800 EUR and 140 EUR for academic and administrative staff including travel costs in both cases.
In addition to these opportunities for IUS staff and students, the University also hosted many visiting students and professors from different countries. The record number of 80 outgoing and incoming persons (57 students and 23 academic and administrative staff members) participated in exchange process at IUS in academic year of 2015/16. International Relations Office of the IUS coordinated these excange activities.
