The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and Herbal Group d.o.o. have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking an important step toward strengthening cooperation between academia and industry, with a strong focus on student development, practical learning, and employability.

The MoU establishes a comprehensive framework for long-term collaboration aimed at creating meaningful opportunities for IUS students while supporting the professional and research needs of Herbal Group d.o.o. Through this partnership, both parties reaffirm their commitment to connecting academic knowledge with real-world business practice.

Under the agreement, the cooperation will include the organization of guest lectures and professional presentations delivered by delegated representatives of Herbal Group, in coordination with IUS. These activities will allow students to gain first-hand insight into industry practices, current market trends, and career pathways within the company’s field of operation.

The MoU also foresees the realization of joint workshops and collaborative activities involving students and student organizations, encouraging active engagement, skills development, and experiential learning. In addition, the partners agreed on the formation of structured student internship programs, systems for monitoring student performance during internships, and the development of employment programs in line with the company’s business capacities and needs.

A particularly valuable component of the cooperation is the establishment of mentoring programs for IUS students, enabling them to receive professional guidance and support from experienced industry practitioners. Furthermore, the agreement opens the possibility for organizing and developing new educational courses within the University’s scientific and research center, tailored to the specific needs of Herbal Group and aligned with contemporary industry requirements.

The MoU also includes provisions for sponsorships and donations to support University projects, contributing to the enhancement of academic, research, and student-oriented activities at IUS.

One of the most notable and immediate outcomes of this cooperation was realized already on the day of signing. A regular flow of IUS students undertaking internships at Herbal Group has been agreed upon, and the first interviews with potential student candidates were conducted directly on the IUS campus yesterday, highlighting the practical and action-oriented nature of the partnership.

This collaboration reflects IUS’s ongoing mission to build strong ties with the business sector, enhance student employability, and provide its students with opportunities to gain relevant professional experience even before graduation. At the same time, it enables Herbal Group d.o.o. to connect with talented young professionals and contribute to the development of future industry leaders.
