On Thursday, October 30, 2025, the IUS Art Gallery hosted the premiere screening of the documentary film series Art21: Artists and the Unknown. The event was organized by Prof. Dr. Meliha Teparić, Director of the IUS Art Gallery and professor in the Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design (VACD) study program.
The featured film introduced audiences to five acclaimed contemporary artists — Linda Goode Bryant in Friends and Strangers, Sarah Sze in Emotional Time, Rose B. Simpson in Everyday Icons, Josephine Halvorson in On the Clock, and Michael Rakowitz in Haunting the West.
Through this inspiring series, visitors had the opportunity to step into the creative worlds of these artists and reflect on how art shapes our understanding of identity, time, and society. Each segment revealed a distinct artistic vision, offering insight into the experimental, emotional, and intellectual processes that define contemporary art today.
Art21 is a celebrated global platform dedicated to producing thought-provoking content about modern artistic practice. As a nonprofit organization, its mission is to inspire a more creative world through the works and words of contemporary artists. Learn more on the Art21 official website.
The Art21 screenings will remain on view at the IUS Art Gallery from October 31 to November 14, 2025. All art lovers, students, and visitors are welcome to attend and immerse themselves in this cinematic exploration of creativity and imagination.
