Round table discussion about topics related to development of Balkanika was held at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) on Wednesday, April 3, 2015. Participants of the Balkanika round table initiated a dialogue on importance and understanding of the Balkans as the world's geo-strategic position, and its identity. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Çaksu, Coordinator of the Balkan Studies Centre at IUS, opened the debate and emphasized the importance of such meetings in order to promote the idea of development of the Balkans, as well as new projects. Mirza Muhasilović moderated the round table dialogue.
IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu emphasized the importance of this occasion. This was the first round table organized by the Balkan Studies Centre at the International University of Sarajevo. IUS Balkan Studies Centre started in December 2014, and aims at providing expertise to governments in the region, primarily the Bosnian government, as well as certain individuals and future associates in the business world. The work of the Centre will contribute to creating a peaceful, adequate and prosperous Balkans through education and training of young academics who are interested in specialization in the region.
