Emre Arapčić-Uevak, a recent graduate of the Computer Sciences and Engineering program at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS), together with Dr. Nima Rabiei, presented the project “Designing Symplectic Algorithms for Optimal Control Problems” at WCCM-ECCOMAS 2026, held in Munich, Germany, from July 19 to 24, 2026.
The event combined the 17th World Congress on Computational Mechanics and the 10th European Congress on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences and Engineering, jointly organized by the International Association for Computational Mechanics (IACM) and the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS).
This year’s congress brought together more than 5,000 researchers, professionals and industry representatives from 65 countries. The six-day scientific program featured more than 4,600 oral presentations, 155 keynote lectures and 344 mini symposia, providing an important international platform for the exchange of knowledge and research in computational science and engineering.
Participation in such events reflects the research opportunities available to students within IUS IT-related programs, including Computer Sciences and Engineering, Software Engineering, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering. These programs encourage students to engage in research, work closely with academic mentors and present their work at international conferences.
IUS congratulates Emre Arapčić-Uevak and Dr. Nima Rabiei on presenting their research at this prestigious international event.
