The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) successfully organized IUS SDG Week 2026, held from May 18 to May 22, 2026, bringing together students, academic staff, and the wider community around the shared goal of sustainable development.
Aligned with the strategic objectives of the University, the event reaffirmed IUS’s strong and ongoing commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Organized by the IUS SDG Committee with the support of University management, this year’s edition emphasized student-centered learning, hands-on experience, and practical engagement.
Throughout the five-day program, participants engaged in a diverse agenda including lectures, workshops, exhibitions, competitions, and community activities. The week opened with a ceremony, featuring the finalists of the IUS Green Campus Competition 2026 and the Student Photo Contest “Concrete Jungle.”
Special emphasis was placed on interactive student workshops and expert lectures covering topics such as sustainability, climate change, urban development, peacebuilding, and AI in research. The program also encouraged community engagement through activities such as a poster session on sustainability in computing and a clean-up action organized with local primary schools.
By bringing together academia, students, and the wider community, IUS SDG Week 2026 served as a platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and action, reinforcing the university’s role as a leader in promoting sustainability and responsible development. The University encourages continued participation in SDG-related initiatives and invites students and staff to contribute ideas that will further strengthen future activities and their impact.
