IUS Awarded Five-Year International Institutional Accreditation by THEQC/YÖKAK

Yokak Accreditation

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) has been awarded the International Institutional Accreditation Certificate by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC/YÖKAK) for a period of five years, having successfully demonstrated compliance with the International Institutional Accreditation Program 2025.

The certificate was officially presented by Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak, President of THEQC/YÖKAK, to Prof. Dr. Sevgi Kurtulmuş, President of the IUS Board of Trustees. With this achievement, IUS has become the first university outside of Türkiye to receive this prestigious accreditation, marking a historic milestone for the University.

This recognition stands as a testament to the University’s continuous commitment to quality assurance, institutional development, and internationally recognized standards in higher education.

THEQC/YÖKAK is registered in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) and operates in line with the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG), which further strengthens the international credibility and European relevance of this accreditation.

The achievement comes as the result of an extensive and demanding process involving thorough preparation, evaluation, and the dedicated efforts of all segments of the University. It reflects the collective success of IUS academic staff, administrative units, and University management, whose coordinated work ensured that the University meets rigorous international quality benchmarks.

The accreditation confirms that IUS operates in accordance with internationally recognized standards across key areas, including teaching and learning, research, governance, student support, quality assurance, and institutional effectiveness. It further strengthens the University’s position as a reputable, globally oriented higher education institution.

For students, this accreditation carries substantial value. It provides additional assurance of the quality and credibility of their education, supporting their academic and professional opportunities both locally and internationally. The recognition is particularly meaningful for IUS’s large community of Turkish students, as accreditation by YÖKAK confirms alignment with a respected Turkish and European quality assurance framework. At the same time, it brings important value to Bosnian and other international students, confirming that their education at IUS is delivered according to recognized international standards.

By achieving this accreditation, IUS once again demonstrates its dedication to continuous improvement and its mission to provide high-quality, internationally relevant education. The University will continue to build on this success by further strengthening its academic programs, institutional capacity, student services, and global partnerships.
