The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) hosted its Graduate Studies Orientation Day for the academic year 2025/2026, welcoming a new generation of master’s and doctoral students ready to embark on the next chapter of their academic journey.
The event opened with a warm address by the IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı, who congratulated the students on their decision to pursue advanced studies and encouraged them to make the most of the research and professional opportunities offered at IUS.
Following his remarks, Asst. Prof. Dr. Emir Hambo, Director of the IUS Graduate Council, addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of academic integrity, innovation, and collaboration in graduate education. He highlighted the role of the Graduate Council in supporting students throughout their studies and ensuring a stimulating academic environment.
To help students navigate their academic responsibilities, Graduate Studies Specialist Merima Drinjak presented the Graduate Manual, explaining key procedures related to course registration, thesis preparation, and other essential aspects of graduate life at IUS.
Adding a touch of fun and interaction, Ermina Ušanović, Assistant at the Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design (VACD) study program, hosted a quiz, giving students a chance to win small gifts while testing their knowledge about IUS and university life.
The session concluded with a Q&A segment, allowing students to ask questions and receive guidance on topics ranging from research supervision to student services.
The closing remarks reminded the participants that graduate studies are not only about academic growth, but also about developing as researchers, professionals, and leaders ready to make an impact in their fields. With inspiration and excitement, the new graduate cohort officially joined the IUS community - ready to explore, discover, and create during the academic year 2025/2026.
