A Memorable Start to a New Academic Journey: IUS Honors 100% Scholarship Students

100% ceremony

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) yesterday organized a special ceremony for students who earned 100% scholarships, giving them the opportunity to celebrate this important and memorable milestone in the presence of their parents and family members.

The event brought together some of the most successful students who achieved outstanding results on the scholarship exam and, through their hard work and academic excellence, secured a full scholarship granted by the SEDEF Foundation. These students have also distinguished themselves as some of the best students in their high schools, further confirming the high quality and strong academic potential of the new generation of future IUS students.

During the ceremony, the students were warmly welcomed and congratulated by the Rector of the International University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı, who praised them for their exceptional performance and for earning the best results. In his address, the Rector emphasized that IUS aims to attract and educate the most talented and promising students, and expressed his pride in welcoming such an outstanding group of young people to the University community.

He also reminded the students that this ceremony marks not only the recognition of their past success, but also the beginning of a new journey in higher education. As he noted, they are now standing at the threshold of an important new chapter in their lives, one that will require dedication, discipline, and a strong sense of purpose.

Addressing the students directly, Rector Kuşakcı underlined that their main responsibility from this point forward is to study hard, continue developing themselves, and grow into good, responsible people who will contribute positively to society. He encouraged them to use the education they will receive to help lead Bosnia and Herzegovina toward prosperity and progress, expressing hope that among this remarkable group are future leaders who will make a meaningful difference in the country.

He also emphasized the importance of remaining in Bosnia and Herzegovina after graduation and using the knowledge and values gained through university education for the benefit of their own community and country. In this spirit, he highlighted the need for young educated people to take an active role in building a stronger future at home.

In his concluding remarks, the Rector stressed that the scholarships awarded at this ceremony represent only a small part of the extensive scholarship fund that is generously provided each year by the SEDEF Foundation for students across Bosnia and Herzegovina. This continued support reflects a strong and lasting commitment to recognizing excellence and making quality higher education more accessible to deserving students.

The ceremony was not only a celebration of academic achievement, but also a meaningful introduction to the IUS academic community for both students and their families. It served as a powerful reminder that dedication, excellence, and ambition are recognized and supported — and that the path toward a successful future begins with opportunity, responsibility, and vision.
