Turkish Ambassador to BiH Girgin Visits IUS: University is Rightfully International, it is Managed by Top Professionals

When I saw the University, which was founded by the support of philanthropists from Turkey, I simply wished to be a student again, said the Turkish Ambassador to BiH Sadik Babur Girgin for AA during his visit to the International University of Sarajevo.

The Turkish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mr. Sadik Babur Girgin visited the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), which runs under the umbrella of the Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo (SEDEF), reports Anadolu Agency (AA).

While visiting the University, which has been present in Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2003, Mr. Girgin visited the Genetics and Bioengineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering labs, Architecture studio and the Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design TV studio. During the interview with the AA journalist, Mr. Girgin was impressed by the general environment at IUS.

“The University provides excellent resources. I talked to some students and had an opportunity to hear that there are students who have already found jobs before graduating and this is really inspiring,” emphasized Mr. Girgin.

Mr. Ambassador was especially impressed by the IUS TV studio, which he described as “spectacular and professional”.

“Students who graduate from this study program will have an opportunity to immediately find a job on television. Besides, we saw the Architecture studio that students use and their performance is thriving. When I saw the University, which was founded by the support of philanthropists from Turkey, I simply wished to be a student again, said Mr. Girgin highlighting that Turkey supports the International University of Sarajevo.

Furthermore, he pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a friendly and brotherly country and, as such, it does not differ much from Turkey in terms of tradition and customs. In view of that, Mr. Girgin said that students who come to this university will get educated in a pleasant and warm atmosphere.

“I can only say to all parents from Turkey who are thinking about it and want their children to attend this university that it is going to be a right decision”, said Mr. Girgin.

Replying to the question of the AA journalist regarding the threat of the FETO terrorist organization, Mr.Girgin said that even though FETO has been present in the Balkans, it has been significantly suppressed.

He emphasized that in this context, IUS is a significant university because it represents a high-quality environment for students.

“This university, which is managed by top professionals has deserved being called international with its equipment, professors and students”, underlined Mr. Girgin.

The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) was established in 2003 and it is one of the largest education projects in the Balkans.

During the last 12 years, higher education institutions have offered good education possibilities to local and foreign students at all levels, including undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels. IUS has also strongly developed during the years and has taken up one of the leading positions among educational institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina which adopted European education standards.

During their education, students have an opportunity to thrive in a quality intellectual environment by choosing one of the 21 different study programs at five faculties, from Industrial Engineering, Software Engineering, Arts and Social Sciences, Teaching, Law, Humanities and Management.

Currently, 2,000 students attend IUS at all levels including undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies, from 47 world countries.
