Senior Assistant Alma Jeftić participated at the international conference "Children of Transition, Children of War: The Generation of Transformation from the European Perspective" held at the University of Vienna from 3rd November till 5th November, 2016. The conference was organized by the Federal Agency for Civic Education (Bonn) in cooperation with the Association for European Studies (Vienna) and in association with the Franz Vranitzky Chair for European Studies (University of Vienna), the Sigmund Freud Private University (Vienna), the Deutschland Archive Online (Berlin), the Bruno Kreisky Forum for International Dialogue (Vienna) and the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe – IDM (Vienna).
During these three days in Vienna Alma Jeftić presented her research on transgenerational transmission of war memories, history textbooks and reconciliation in post-war Bosnia-Herzegovina. Also, she got the opportunity to give an interview for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation ORF, Science Department, which could be found at the following link: http://science.orf.at/stories/2806989/ , (full radio program at this link: http://oe1.orf.at/programm/452908). She was also invited by the editors to write an article for the "bpb:magazin" of the Federal Agency for Civic Education from Bonn. The article titled „Zelthaut aus Erinnerungen: Die Generationen von Krieg und Frieden in der Republik Bosnien und Herzegowina“ (“Stone Memories and Perpetual Conflict: Generations of War and Peace in Bosnia-Herzegovina“) was published in the October edition of "bpb:magazin" which was presented during the October Book Fair in Frankfurt.
Special panel of the conference Revisions of Transitions included the exhibition of photographs chosen by the participants as a symbol and representation of generation of transition today. As a part of that exhibition photo “Children of War” taken by Fatih Er, student of Visual Arts and Visual Communication Design Program of the International University of Sarajevo was exhibited at the Sky Lounge, University of Vienna and presented by Alma Jeftić.
