The Rector of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı, paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Rector of Marmara University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur, with the aim of further strengthening and expanding the successful cooperation between the two universities.
The visit served as an important opportunity to reaffirm the strong academic ties already established between IUS and Marmara University, while also opening the door to new possibilities for future collaboration. During the meeting, both sides expressed their shared commitment to advancing institutional relations and enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
As a significant outcome of the visit, the expansion of collaboration between the two universities was formally confirmed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement represents another important step in the continued development of the partnership and reflects the common vision of both institutions to foster academic excellence, internationalization, and student opportunity.
IUS and Marmara University already maintain a successful partnership through their joint double diploma program, which offers students a unique international academic pathway. Within this model, students complete the first two years of their studies at the International University of Sarajevo and continue the final two years at Marmara University. The program currently includes the fields of Computer Engineering, Bioengineering, English Language Teaching, Law, Management, and Psychology.
This cooperation provides students with valuable access to an international learning environment, intercultural experience, and the opportunity to graduate with a globally recognized education. By studying in two countries and at two respected institutions, students benefit from broader academic exposure, strengthened professional perspectives, and enhanced competitiveness in the international job market.
The continued development of this partnership reflects the importance both universities place on international academic collaboration and on creating meaningful educational opportunities for future generations. It also highlights the growing value of cross-border university cooperation in responding to the evolving demands of higher education and preparing students for success in an increasingly interconnected world.
The International University of Sarajevo extends its sincere appreciation to Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur and Marmara University for their warm welcome and constructive meeting. IUS looks forward to further strengthening this valuable partnership and to the new opportunities that will arise through continued cooperation.
