On Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, the delegation of Federation of International Student Associations (Uluslararası Öğrenci Dernekleri Federasyonu, UDEF) and IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation visited International University of Sarajevo.
The delegation was welcomed by Rector Prof. Dr. Tahsin Erkan Türe, and included President of UDEF Mehmet Ali Bolat, Abroad Organization Coordinator of UDEF Muhammed Malik Taylan, member of Executive Council of IHH Mehmet Gündüz, and Education Coordinator of UDEF Mahmut Oğuz.
In the meeting, IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Tahsin Erkan Türe and the members of delegation had a discussion on continuing cooperation in joint projects, participation of international students in Erasmus exchange programs, about problems international students face in the new environment upon their arrival to IUS, their integration to Bosnian community, etc. It was agreed that there is a need to raise awareness about the presence of international students in BiH.
For this reason, UDEF, IHH and IUS have in past three years cooperated to organize International Student Festival, the annual event that took place in different locations around the city. The present parties agreed to organize the event for the fourth time at a location in the heart of Sarajevo. International students will have the opportunity to have stands where they will present their respective countries, the souvenirs and the traditional food.
We wish to thank the guests for their visit, and hope that the event will attract attention of local community.
