Representatives of HEA pay a visit to IUS

Representatives of the Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HEA), Dr. Enes Hašić, Director of the Agency, and Dr. Sc. Suad Kunosić, President of the Agency’s Governing Board, paid an official visit to the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) on Friday, April 10, 2026.

The HEA delegation was received by members of the IUS leadership: Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı, Rector; Associate Prof. Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation; Edina Hadžiahmetović, Manager of the Strategic Development Office (SDO); and Jahja Imamović, Deputy Secretary General for Legal and Administrative Affairs.

During the meeting, discussions focused on quality assurance in higher education, the role of HEA as a key institution in the higher education system of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the continuation of institutional cooperation with IUS as an important partner in these processes. On this occasion, the systematic approach to quality assurance at IUS was highlighted, including the implementation of national and international accreditation processes, alignment with international standards, and the continuous improvement of academic processes.

As part of the visit, the HEA representatives toured the university campus and expressed their satisfaction with the modern conditions for teaching and research. Particular attention was given to the newly opened Anatomy Laboratory of the IUS Faculty of Medicine, where the guests were welcomed by the Acting Dean, Associate Prof. Dr. Jasmin Šutković, who presented the laboratory’s capacities and its importance for teaching and research activities.

The visit further underscored the importance of open dialogue and cooperation between higher education institutions and relevant agencies, with the aim of strengthening quality and transparency in higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
