On the November 18th in the National Theater Sarajevo, opening night of the ballet Omer and Merima is taking place. This play is based on the tragic Bosnian folklore ballad and is one of the performances highly expected for this season repertoire. Our designer M. Furkan Hizir is the author of the visual identity design for this project. His posters and designs will be on the building of the National Theater and on major public advertising places in the city. In the Bosnian news reports on this performance M. Furkan Hizir is regarded as “very talented and proven designer".
The libretto is done by Gradimir Gojer and music by Djelo Jusic, both famous Bosnian artists. The choreographer of the ballet is Belma Čečo Bakrač, young Director of the National Theatre Ballet.
This is not the first time M. Furkan Hizir is cooperating with the National Theatre. In May he was making the design for Don Quijote ballet, with the French choreographer Ronald Savkovic. This visual identity was also highly regarded by the artists in the National Theater, and Mr. Hizir was commended for his work by the General Manager Marijela Margeta.
The cultural institutions in Sarajevo are in need of cutting edge design and art work that our Department of Arts can offer in joint projects and co operations. Our artists and designers make us proud and motivated to do even better.
Furkan, thank you and congratulations!
