On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, the Head of Global Business Management Association Mr. Nuri Bulgurcu visited the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) with other members of the Association and had a meeting with the President of the Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo (SEDEF) Mr. Hasan Topaloğlu and IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım.
Global Business Management Association is a London-based organization gathering businesspeople from England, Scotland, Turkey and other European cities. Within their mini Balkan tour, they also visited Bosnia and Herzegovina. The aim of the tour is increasing trade between England, Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina and evaluating investment and business opportunities in the Balkans.
The members of the Association shared their business experiences which are mainly related to trade between Turkey and Europe. Their activities vary from family businesses to large companies and include textile, food, printing, etc. Investment opportunities were also discussed as well as the impacts of the current economic situation in the world.
The President of SEDEF Foundation Mr. Hasan Topaloğlu shared the story of founding a university in Bosnia and Herzegovina that would serve as a bridge between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey. This idea was put into action by first founding the Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo (SEDEF) and then in the academic 2004/2005 the International University of Sarajevo was established.
IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım welcomed the guests and presented the work of IUS, its investments regarding the IUS infrastructure and future aspirations of the University. Mr. Yıldırım seized the opportunity and talked about the faculties within IUS, its study programs, double diploma programs with renowned universities in Turkey (Istanbul Technical University and Istanbul University) and Poland (Catholic University John Paul II). He emphasized that this is a truly international university with students from more than 45 countries and academic staff from more than 12 world countries.
The meeting ended with expressing good wishes for further cooperation and presenting tokens of appreciation.
