The 5th International Wood Technology Conference “Sarajevo Wood Days 5” organized by the Wood Cluster of Bosnia and Herzegovina “Furniture and Wood”, with the support of the EU4Business project funded by the European Union, took place on November 2-3, 2023, in Sarajevo. Assistant Professor Dr. Ismar Alagić from the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) participated in the conference as a panelist on the panel titled “State of the Wood Industry Sector – Situation of the Sector with a Special Focus on the Labor Market and the Need for New Forms of Education”.
Professor Alagić presented the results of his personal research regarding the state of qualified workforce and the achieved technological level in companies involved in wood processing and furniture production in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The research findings were accepted by the conference participants, sparking numerous discussions about further steps in the development of the wood industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The conference was attended by a large number of representatives from companies and institutions, both from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. Many participating companies exhibited their products and capacities to the wider public at the Economy Fair held simultaneously at the Skenderija Center.
