On Wednesday, May 31, 2023, the Rector of the International University of Sarajevo (IUS), Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım visited Prof. Dr. Pavle Krstić, newly appointed Minister of Science, Higher Education and Youth of Canton Sarajevo.
Challenges in higher education, upcoming activities and projects of importance to both IUS and the Ministry were some of the discussed topics. Rector Yıldırım used the opportunity to inform Minister Krstić about the implementation of the new Law on Higher Education as well as the accreditation activities.
The Minister pledged to support the work of IUS taking into account the specific nature of private universities and expressing willingness to establish partnerships between the public and private sectors. Efforts to increase internationalization of education were underlined and he also mentioned the appeal of the city of Sarajevo as the regional hub of international education.
The meeting was also attended by Ms. Azra Ivazović, Assistant to the Minister, Mr. Armin Kerić, Director of the Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo (SEDEF) and Mr. Jahja Imamović, Deputy Secretary General of IUS.
