IUS Enters into Cooperation with the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad

International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan entered into cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding in an online ceremony held on Monday, May 15, 2023.

The MoU was signed by the Director General of ISSI Ambassador Sohail Mahmood at the Islamabad ISSI headquarters and the Rector of IUS Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım at the IUS Campus. The event in Sarajevo was also attended by Mr. Shakaib Rafique, Deputy Head of Mission on behalf of the Pakistani Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina who praised the recognition of the importance of international cooperation and further strengthening of the existing bilateral relations between the two countries. He expressed hope that this is the first of the many agreements to follow which will open the doors to the development and strengthening of cooperation in the field of education, research and analysis.

The areas of cooperation stipulated by the MoU include: exchange of delegations of officials and experts of the Parties for the purposes of research, field study, professional training, exchange of views and sharing of experience in the areas of common interest; joint scientific research, conferences, seminars and other scientific arrangements and publications, exchange of scientific literature and periodical editions; and IUS Balkan Studies Center (BSC) was designated as the focal point and contact entity to ensure effective implementation and coordination of the MoU.
