On December 13, 2022, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) hosted a delegation from Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) led by THEQC President, Dr. Muhsin Kar and THEQC Academic Expert, Dr. Yasemin Yelbay Yılmaz. In addition, IUS welcomed a delegation from BiH Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance (HEA) comprised of HEA Director, Dr. Enes Hašić, HEA Assistant Director for QA, Dr. Benjamin Muhamedbegović and Dr. Suad Kunosić, President of HEA Steering Board.
The two delegations were welcomed by Mr. Hasan Topaloğlu, President of the Foundation for Education Development Sarajevo (SEDEF), Prof. Dr. Sevgi Kurtulmuş, President of the IUS Board of Trustees, IUS Rector, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, IUS Vice-Rector for Academic Activities and Students’ Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emil Knezović, IUS Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and Research, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kanita Karađuzović-Hadžiabdić, IUS Rector’s Adviser for Administrative Duties, Asst. Prof. Muhammed Yasir Göz, Educational Counsellor at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkiye to BiH, Dr. Faruk Berat Akçeşme and IUS Quality Assurance Office Manager, Mrs. Edina Hadžiahmetović.
The guests had an opportunity to see the IUS facilities including IUS Library, computer labs and IUS Research and Development Center (RDC). The tour was followed by an informative and inspiring lecture by THEQC President, Dr. Muhsin Kar on “Gains from Quality Assurance in Higher Education Institutions” where he discussed quality as a modern concept, perception of quality for stakeholders, role of quality assurance and its contemporary understanding. He also underlined the gains from quality assurance for higher education institutions as well as the future of quality education at universities.
