Iranian Ambassador to BiH, His Excellency Mr. Gholamreza Alimohammad Ghelichkhan visited the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) with his delegation on November 23, 2021. The Ambassador Mr. Ghelichkhan and IUS Rector Prof.Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım compared the higher education system in Iran, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on not only the education system but all walks of life.
The Rector presented IUS, its faculties and study programs emphasizing the modernly-equipped laboratories and research centers the University provides to its students. Another IUS trait he mentioned was the fact that IUS is the only foundation-based university in Bosnia and Herzegovina whose main mission is educating young people in the best learning conditions that will help them reach their full potential.
“IUS has students from 45 countries and academic staff from 12 countries, which makes it the only truly international university in BiH”, said the Rector. He also stated that the University is focused on establishing an innovation center, which will enhance and create more research activities for students.
Another important point of the meeting was a discussion on relations between the three countries: Iran, Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina. His Excellency Mr. Ghelichkhan highlighted that all three countries have had very good connections, which will get stronger in the future. He also said that Iran is very interested in establishing cooperation with IUS and other universities in the country and thus creating better educational and academic ties and opportunities between the two countries.
The Ambassador and his delegation also visited IUS Research and Development Center, laboratories and other facilities offered by the University.
