On Friday, 7 November 2025, English Language and Literature (ELIT) and English Language and Literature, Teaching (ELT) programs organized 5th International Youth Conference on Language, Literature and Education: Joining Forces to Build a Better World. The theme of this year’s Conference was Education for Sustainable Development.
Representatives of ELIT and ELT programs and IUS rector, Prof. Dr. Ali Osman Kuşakcı, welcomed 34 participants from 14 universities across 9 countries: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Türkiye, Serbia, Spain, Slovenia, Malaysia, Oman, Iran and Indonesia.
The two keynote speakers presented interesting and current topics. Dr. Alma Žero, from the University of Sarajevo, discussed Sustainability for Inclusion in English Language. Professor Azra Polimac-Bajrić, founder and CEO of Bosnian2GO, shared her insights and tips related to the teaching career during her speech on How to get that teaching job, and how to keep it.
The participants presented 31 papers on variety of topics, ranging from Linguistic shifts in the digital age, Artificial Intelligence and English language teaching, the impact of memes on communication, bilingual education as a bridge to interculturality, environmental protection and sustainability in foreign language education, to legal translation, post-war storytelling, and analysis of various literary works and authors like Shakespeare, Agatha Christie, Dario Džamonja, Meša Selimović, Yaa Gyasi, E.L. Doctorow, Langston Hughes and others.

The Conference offered a unique opportunity to students to meet with their peers from around the world, exchange ideas and experiences and establish the foundation for future collaborations. Following the review process, selected papers of the participants will be published in the Conference book of proceedings.
