International University of Sarajevo (IUS) was a host to famous producer and director of documentary films, Dr. Iwan Russell-Jones on Wednesday, May 13, 2015. As part of his visit to IUS, Dr. Jones gave a lecture on: '' Seeking Truth: Documentary Filmmaking and social impact “. Dr. Iwan Russell-Jones has over 25 years of experience as producer and director of documentaries for the BBC, in both television and radio. He also works as professor at the University of Vancouver. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lejla Panjeta from VACD Program of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) organized this lecture in cooperation with the Foundation '' Izvor '.
During the lecture, Dr. Jones talked about many years of experience he had while working for the famous British BBC and recording of religious and documentary programs for the public TV stations. “During my work period I became well acquainted with many religions of the world and I produced many documentaries about them, because I wanted to share the knowledge I gained with the viewers. The BBC has assisted me selflessly for many years in that process”. - said Dr. Russell-Jones. The introductory words prior to eminent guests lecture were given by Dr. Lejla Panjeta and Mrs. Petula Myers from ''Izvor'' foundation. At the end of the lecture, a debate followed where students had a chance to ask questions through a half an hour discussion and express opinions on the subject of the search for truth in a documentary film and the possibilities of authorial creativity in the BBC production.
