On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the English Language and Literature (ELIT) and English Language and Literature, Teaching (ELT) study programs at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) hosted a guest lecture by Dr. Melita Lemut Bajec from the Faculty of Education at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Delivered under the title “Can Plurilingual and Intercultural Education Help Create a More United World?”, the lecture brought together ELIT and ELT faculty members and students for a thought-provoking discussion on one of the most relevant topics in contemporary education. In her lecture, Dr. Lemut Bajec addressed the importance of promoting plurilingualism and interculturalism through language education, emphasizing their role in fostering understanding, dialogue, and stronger connections among people and nations.
The session was followed by a lively and engaging exchange of ideas, during which participants had the opportunity to reflect on the challenges and possibilities of building a more inclusive and united world through education.
During her visit to IUS, Dr. Lemut Bajec also met with ELIT and ELT academic staff, where opportunities for future collaboration were discussed and further plans for cooperation were considered.
