On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the Faculty of Law (FLW) hosted a public lecture by the Honorable Judge Dr. Kenad Osmanović, titled “The Role of Judges in Building Democracy.” The event launched the FLW Public Lecture Series for the Spring semester, bringing together students, staff, and guests interested in the relationship between the judiciary and democratic governance.
During his lecture, Judge Osmanović traced the historical development of the judicial function and underscored the separation of powers as a key foundation of a democratic state. He highlighted the principles that shape judicial responsibility - legality, independence, and impartiality - and explained how these values directly support the credibility of courts and the protection of citizens’ rights.
Special emphasis was placed on the role judges play in strengthening democratic institutions through lawful, autonomous, and unbiased decision-making, contributing to the advancement of the rule of law and public trust in the justice system.
The lecture concluded with a dynamic Q&A session, offering participants the opportunity to reflect on the topics discussed and engage in an open exchange with the speaker.
We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Osmanović for an insightful and thought-provoking lecture, and we wish him continued success in his professional career.
