Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs at IUS, Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhamed Hadžiabdić and Secretary General of IUS, Mr. Emir Hadžikadunić visited the Second Gymnasium in Varaždin (Croatia) on Wednesday, February 26th, 2014.
The main purpose of the visit was introduction of IUS to students and their parents as well as giving three scholarship certificates for studies at the International University of Sarajevo to the best students of the Second Gymnasium in Varaždin.
During the visit to Gymnasium, Vice Rector and Secretary General of IUS met with the director of the school, Mrs. Zdravka Grđan. The meeting was also attended by school Councilor Mrs. Iva Rajh and homeroom teachers of the final graduation classes: Vlatka Drvarić, Marijan Andrović, Dario Kos, Ivana Sekol and Mario Slatki.
After the introductory speeches of the guests and the host of the meeting, about their respectable institutions, director Grđan emphasized that students from her school have lately had a series of successes on state and regional competitions. At the same time, she also pointed out that international cooperation is important for the general affirmation of her school.
Vice Rector Hadžiabdić talked about the importance of investment and co-financing the education of talented students and pointed out that one of the priorities of IUS is to provide students with excellent conditions for completion of their higher education at IUS.
Secretary General Hadžikadunić said that this Gymnasium in Varaždin is the first school in Croatia which has received certificates for scholarships from IUS, but he also added that we already have some students from Croatia who are studying at IUS.
After meeting with the leading representatives of the school, IUS delegation gave presentations to five graduate classes of the schools and gave them information about the possibilities and advantages offered for studies at IUS, student life on campus and general conditions for studying in Sarajevo.
In the exceptional welcome and professionally organized program of the host representatives, a meeting was organized where parents of the graduates were invited as well, and they were given information in two presentations about the work of IUS.
Vice-Rector Hadžiabdić and Secretary General Hadžikadunić during their visit to Varaždin talked about the benefits of studying at IUS and met with the directors of secondary schools in Varaždin County as well.
It is important to mention that the major contribution to the successful implementation of the visit of IUS representatives to Second Gymnasium in Varaždin was given by director Zdravka Grđan, who was the initiator of such a visit. Namely, director Grđan already visited Sarajevo and IUS twice, at which occasion she personally was convinced of the potential this University offers to its students.
