Adrion Trainee Project

On Tuesday, September 26, 2023, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) hosted a press conference to present the project outcomes during the conference.

The Adrion Trainee project, carried out in collaboration with ten partner institutions from six countries, falls under the Interreg program for the Adriatic-Ionian region. The primary objective of this project has been to establish a network of universities and research institutes within the project area and introduce a joint postgraduate study program in the field of renewable energy sources, all conducted in English.

The project timeline spans from January 2, 2023, to September 30, 2023, and involves the active participation of 8 universities and 3 private companies across the six countries. These partners include the University of Patras, the University of Bologna, the University of Venice, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb, Algebra University College in Zagreb, the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Tirana, the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad, the International University of Sarajevo, as well as Solar Info Community, Green Technology, and Energo Data.

IUS stands out as the exclusive partner from Bosnia and Herzegovina that has successfully brought together a significant number of collaborators from various industries, the business community, and institutional bodies to support business development. Throughout this period, collaborative efforts have led to the formulation of curricula and programs, with ongoing efforts aimed at achieving accreditation for the aforementioned postgraduate program through the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR).

Furthermore, the project implementation has involved research initiatives, stakeholder surveys within the project area, as well as workshops and training sessions for both students and representatives of the business community. The postgraduate program will span four semesters and will carry a value of 120 ECTS, including structured student exchanges during the course of study and practical industry training in the fourth semester. This distinctive postgraduate program, unique in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the entire region, will incorporate best practices from partner universities in Greece, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Albania, alongside intensive practical collaboration with industry stakeholders.
