Department of Arts had the honor to host the visiting lecture by Bosnian screenplay writer and dramaturge, Prof. Vedran Fajkovic. On November 9th students of VACD had the opportunity to listen to the experiences and introduction on script writing on the topic “Screenplay: Art Form or Just a Tool?”
The debate on artistic or technical features of the film script is still an unsolved issue in film studies. Academically and from industry point of view, Prof. Fajkovic, who was lecturer at the Sarajevo Film Academy, explained the most important rules in script making process, as well as the connection with the audience and production. He also shared his experiences on drama writing for the theatre and introduced students to the profession of dramaturge, which he currently performs for the Chamber Theater 55, one of the most important Sarajevo theaters.
Principles in script writing and filmmaking process caught our students’ attention, and engaged them in a discussion which was highly creative and productive. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lejla Panjeta, Head of the Department of Arts gave a short introductory speech and engaged in a discussion along with other academics from VACD.
Dean of FASS, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Bal, expressed his satisfaction with the lecture and thanked our guest lecturer, emphasizing the importance of creativity and talent in our art studies. The group discount tickets for all the performances of Chamber Theater 55 for the students and IUS academics were mentioned and in consultations with our PR office Prof. Fajkovic will offer the best possibilities for the cooperation between the theatre and IUS, especially considering the subtitled plays for non-Bosnian speaking audience.
