Students from the Architecture (ARCH) study program at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) – Ena Ribičić, Eldina Kepić, Rania Ehnech Srean, and Emin Podrug – last month conducted a workshop titled "Pavilion of Emotions" for primary school students from grades 5 to 8. The workshop was organized as part of the Little School of Architecture in collaboration with the Community of Technical Culture of the City of Dubrovnik and the Dubrovnik-Neretva County. Its goal was to encourage students to think of architecture as a fusion of art, emotions, and spatial functionality.
Participants had the opportunity to explore the connection between architecture and emotions through theoretical lectures and practical activities. The workshop began with an introductory session where IUS students explained how architecture can influence human emotions and introduced the key elements of space.
This was followed by group work, where participants selected emotions to interpret through an architectural project. By creating sketches, floor plans, and models of pavilions using various materials, students developed creative and analytical skills as well as spatial thinking.
The workshop concluded with presentations of the final models and a discussion among participants, encouraging the exchange of ideas and teamwork.
