International University of Sarajevo (IUS) proudly announces the publication of a new edited volume that increases the scientific understanding of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the immunobiological complexities of the COVID-19 pandemic: Volume 213 of the prestigious Progress in Molecular Biology and Translational Science series is titled “Navigating the Complexities of SARS-CoV-2 Immunobiology: The Science Behind the COVID-19 Pandemic.” This important work was co-edited by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Altijana Hromić-Jahjefendić, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS) and Prof. Dr. Vladimir N. Uversky, an internationally recognized expert in molecular medicine from the University of South Florida, USA.
This volume is the result of a continued and fruitful collaboration between Dr. Hromić-Jahjefendić and Dr. Uversky, who have previously co-authored numerous scientific publications focused on COVID-19 pathophysiology and immune response mechanisms. Dr. Uversky, a world-leading scientist in the field of intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) and the mechanisms of protein folding and misfolding, has authored over 950 scientific papers and edited multiple books and series on protein structure and function. His insights into disordered protein behavior have significantly influenced our understanding of how SARS-CoV-2 interacts with the human host at the molecular level.
This collaborative book provides valuable perspectives for researchers, clinicians, and students aiming to understand the evolving science of viral immunobiology and lays the groundwork for developing improved diagnostics and therapeutic strategies.
The International University of Sarajevo congratulates Assoc. Prof. Dr. Altijana Hromić-Jahjefendić and her distinguished co-editor Prof. Dr. Vladimir N. Uversky on this remarkable achievement that adds to global scientific efforts in pandemic preparedness and response.
