IUS Welcomes Turkish Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure

On Monday, August 26, 2024, the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) had the honor of hosting a distinguished delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, led by Deputy Minister Mr. Enver İskurt. The delegation was also accompanied by the Turkish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Sadık Babür Girgin. The guests were warmly welcomed by IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, Vice-Rector for General Affairs Assoc. Prof. Muhammed Yasir Göz, and Secretary General Mr. İbrahim İnal.

During their visit, the delegation was introduced to a significant project titled "In the Footsteps of Evliya Çelebi: Ottoman Artifacts in Bosnia and Herzegovina." This initiative, developed in collaboration between the IUS Balkan Studies Center (BSC) and the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey to Bosnia and Herzegovina, aims to enhance cultural tourism and economic development in the region by displaying the rich Ottoman heritage present in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project reflects a deep commitment to cultural preservation and the promotion of historical awareness, which are crucial for fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the region's shared history.

The visit also provided an excellent opportunity for both parties to explore future collaboration and projects that would further enhance research and entrepreneurship projects between the institutions. The Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure expressed its strong support for initiatives that contribute to the development of startups and the exchange of academic and professional knowledge and experience. Such collaborations are seen as vital for the growth of both academic and professional landscapes, and they offer great potential for innovation and mutual advancement.

IUS extends its heartfelt thanks to the Turkish Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure and Deputy Minister Mr. Enver İskurt for their visit and continued support. The University looks forward to building on the strong foundation established during this visit and advancing the shared goals in education, research, and cultural development. Both parties are confident that this collaboration will lead to significant achievements and a stronger partnership in the future.
