The International University of Sarajevo (IUS) took part at the 26th General BH Fair ZEPS 2024, which is being held from October 1st to 5th in Zenica. This prominent industrial and trade event has brought together over 350 companies from various sectors to display their innovative products and services, and IUS proudly participated as a representative of Bosnia’s leading educational institutions.
Leading the IUS delegation were Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yildirim and Secretary General Mr. Ibrahim Inal, who attended the fair’s opening ceremony alongside distinguished members of the university. The delegation presented the institution’s cutting-edge research capabilities and advanced technological facilities, particularly those housed in the IUS Research and Development Center (RDC).
This year’s fair has a special international flair, with the Republic of Turkey serving as the partner country. Turkey’s national presence is organized by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, the second-largest chamber of commerce in the world, led by IUS Board member Mr. Šekib Avdagić. The partnership highlights the strong ties between the two countries and the significant role IUS plays in promoting educational and business collaborations across borders.
At the IUS exhibition, visitors were treated to live demonstrations of sophisticated machines used at the RDC. A 3D printer and 3D scanner showcased the university’s commitment to integrating the latest technology in its academic and research endeavors. These versatile tools, employed by both staff and students, were displayed in action, drawing attention to their applications in various projects across multiple disciplines.
Additionally, the IUS team proudly presented the newly acquired VC-760 EZ CNC Milling Machine. This precision-engineered machine is designed for complex machining tasks, offering advanced multi-axis capabilities that allow for intricate cutting and shaping of materials. With this state-of-the-art equipment, IUS is pushing the boundaries of research and innovation in fields such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM).
ZEPS 2024 provided a platform for IUS to strengthen its industry connections and showcase its advancements in technology and research. The university’s participation underscored its role as a hub of innovation in the region, fostering a culture of collaboration between academia and industry.
