On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the Research and Development Center (RDC) at the International University of Sarajevo (IUS) hosted an educational session titled "Smart Systems Shape the Future". Organized under the leadership of Mr. Faruk Berat Akçeşme, Educational Counsellor at the Turkish Embassy to Bosnia and Herzegovina, this event marked the beginning of the technology-focused activities within the Matrakçı Workshops for Thinking, Science, and Technology.
During the one-day training, participants explored 3D modeling and printing using the Tinkercad platform, unleashing their creativity by designing unique 3D models. They also engaged with Arduino IDE software and an Arduino project kit, gaining hands-on experience in hardware-software integration and its applications in education. Additionally, they worked with the specially developed Matrakçı AI Chat GPT, enhancing their skills in artificial intelligence utilization.
Another key component of the workshop was PictoBlox, where participants learned how AI-powered facial recognition can be leveraged in education. The training aimed to showcase how these emerging technologies can enhance learning and creativity, broadening their application in modern education.
The Matrakçı Workshops were established with the support of the Turkish Ministry of National Education – Directorate of National Education of the Istanbul Province. They focus on fostering critical thinking, scientific exploration, and skill development among children and youth in Bosnia and Herzegovina. These workshops engage educators, academics, and professionals in designing content that emphasizes intellectual and cognitive development.
Among the attendees were IUS senior assistants Ammar Hodža and Abas Sezer, Laboratory Manager Muhammet Mesut Haskul, lab technician, Metin Mahmut Karaman, as well as RDC Acting Manager Šejla Džakmić. Upon completing the training, all participants received Educator Training Program certificates, recognizing their commitment to advancing education through technology.
