IUS and UiTM Agree to Implement in Practice Cooperation Set Out in MoU

Delegation of the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Malaysia led by the Chairman of the Board of Directors Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr. Ibrahim Shah Abu Shah paid a visit to the International University of Sarajevo on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. The delegation was welcomed by the IUS Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yıldırım, Vice-Rector for Academic Activities and Students' Affairs Dr. Emil Knezović, Head of the Department of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Muhidin Mulalić and Associate Professor Dr. Mirsad Karić.

UiTM is the largest comprehensive university in Malaysia providing innovative education with state-of-the-art infrastructure and technology educating more than 200,000 students at its 34 campuses, 31 faculties and centers of excellence all over the country. A unique feature of the University is that its medium of instruction is English which facilitates cooperation with IUS.

IUS and UiTM have a running Memorandum of Understanding that has set the foundation for cooperation between the two higher education institutions. During the meeting, the attendees agreed that this cooperation will move into its implementation phase in the upcoming period whereby Committees will be established by both sides to examine and define concrete action plans and joint activities. These will range in the scope of organizing joint conferences notably in the area of social and political sciences, international relations and public administration. It will also include potential staff exchange, guest lectures and joint research especially for Master and Doctoral studies students.

UiTM Chairman also underlined that their University is very interested in hosting international students from the Balkan region and that through cooperation with IUS, the door is open for prospective students to continue their MA and PhD studies in Malaysia through subsidized government programs and scholarship schemes.
