On Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the campus of International University of Sarajevo, Center for Developing Relations with BiH (BIGMEV) held the conference titled “Experiences in Entrepreneurship from the East to the West”, which was attended by a number of IUS students and teaching staff, and other distinguished guests.
Speakers at the conference were Mr. Muharrem Çilek, Mr. Amir Medić, and Mr. Mersed Čamdžić, who spoke about important aspects of entrepreneurship and business in different cultural settings. The three speakers had interesting addresses depicting the advantages, difficulties, and development of businesses in different environments, and shared their personal experiences and anecdotes from their careers.
Distinguished guest Mr. Çilek talked about strategies for reaching international standards in business and production, and through his own experiences explained what is the key to the success of a product or brand at the international and local market. Through answers of students and lecturers, Mr. Çilek said that the product quality and its differentiation in the market are the main support for the product, and that this is the key to its success.
Mr. Amir Medić spoke about production potentials and current capacity of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the textile, shoes, and furniture sector, giving examples of difficulites which Bosnian companies face when placing their products in the international market. Also, he explained the current situation, in which many Bosnian-Herzegovinian companies produce complete products for various brands of multinational companies from all over the world.
The program was concluded by Mr. Mersed Čamdžić by and his experiences from the IT sector, and the success of Mistral company from its founding until this day. He said that Bosnian brains in this sector sell software solutions to many world brands, and that the IT market is a very competitive one. The leaders are only the biggest brands with whom it is hard for one to compete, but still possible.
At the end of the conference, the distinguished guests were given tokens of appreciation on part of IUS.
