On Monday, 25th of April, 2016, Mr. Peter Duffy, director of USAID in Bosnia and Herzegovina, visited International University of Sarajevo. Mr. Duffy gave a lecture on the topic „Development of economic cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and USA: the role of USAID in Bosnia and Herzegovina and future plans“.
On this occasion, Mr. Duffy explained the main purpose of USAID, but also presented previous projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Mr. Peter Duffy emphasized the importance of this organization for Bosnia and Herzegovina and its future progress.
As a director of Mision, Duffy is responsible for most of the civil help from USA State Department to Bosnia and Herzegovina which is 28 million dollars in total for 2015.
During the lecture, all participants had the opportunity to ask questions and to participate actively in the discussion.
After the lecture,IUS rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu and vice-rectors hosted Mr. Duffy and his team in the Rectorate. Members of IUS staff who lived and studied in the USA attended the meeting and talked with the USAID delegation about potential projects.
Lecture of Mr. Duffy was organized by International Relations Office in order to better inform the students of IUS about actual global trends, but also about social, political and economic situation and activities in the world.
