Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Dr. Renzo Daviddi visited the International University of Sarajevo on Monday, May 19th, 2014. Distinguished guest was welcomed by the Rector of (IUS), Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu, Vice Rector, Asst. Prof. Dr. Muhamed Hadžiabdić, Secretary General, Emir Hadžikadunić, rector’s advisor, Prof. Dr. Hasan Korkut, Prof. Dr. Mesut Idriz and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Metin Boşnak.
During the meeting, they spoke about development of the University and the quality of education that aims at creating future young diplomats and other professionals who will build their carriers in the European Union and its administrative units. After the end of the meeting, the guests have visited the University and its facilities where they had an opportunity to see all resources that are offered to its students.
Dr. Renzo Daviddi held the long-awaited lecture on ''Integration of the Rest of the Balkan Countries to EU: Prospects and Challenges" in full amphitheater of the University. During the lecture, he spoke about the European Union, its mechanisms for accessing, the problems and realistic expectations for entry of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Turkey regarding the EU. He also states that the problem is not just in approaching the acquis, but there is also a problem in the lack of political will of the leadership of Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to move forward in the process of European integration.
''Here we have a really fundamental question and that is the un-fulfillment of the decision in the case of " Sejdić-Finci ", which is a prerequisite for even considering the activation of the agreement for this country in order to continue to progress in the process of integration into the European Union’’ - said Dr. Daviddi. At the end of the lecture, he thanked the University for the invitation and expressed his wish to visit IUS again.
